Camilla Mills Legerton

Name: Camilla Mills Legerton
Age: Aged 37
Based in Saffron Walden
Occupation: Event Management
Sensitivities: Coffee, white wine and yeast

Health Background: Camilla had been suffering from fatigue, bloating and indigestion for two years. She thought that it was simply down to her stressful busy lifestyle juggling a part-time job and looking after her three small children. This was beginning to interfere with her everyday life as she felt so exhausted making it very difficult to get out of bed in the morning. As Camilla suffered from bad digestion she would often also have to rush to the toilet and suffered from a painful abdomen. She found this frustrating and it was getting in the way of things, especially when out and about with the children.

Camilla’s doctor prescribed medication to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but this offered no relief. When out shopping with her children, Camilla was in a pharmacy chain where they carry out the K-Test. She had read that IBS could be linked to food intolerance and as the test only took five minutes to complete, she decided to have it done there and then.

The K-Test: Camilla took the K-Test in January 2008. Within a short space of time the results showed that coffee and white wine were to be addressed, whereas yeast was a food to be monitored. Camilla would usually drink three cups of coffee a day, and would have a glass of white wine with her husband each evening after the children went to sleep. Her son loves Marmite and Camilla would also often have Marmite on toast with the children for breakfast.

Camilla removed these from her diet and substituted these for alternatives. For example she swapped regular bread for soda bread and her breakfast toast and marmite for cereal.

The Results: Three weeks after Camilla changed her diet she noticed that she had much more energy and it was far easier getting out of bed in the morning.
Camilla did find it very difficult to stop drinking coffee initially, but she soon got used to drinking tea and feels the benefit outweighs the tiredness and discomfort she used to experience.

Camilla says: “My whole family has noticed an improvement in me. As I’ve got so much more vitality and energy I no longer find it such an effort to run around the park with the children and keep up with my hectic schedule. It’s great to not feel like a zombie and just feel more alert and on the ball.

“I couldn’t believe that the K-Test was so quick and easy to do and that I left the pharmacy with my results! I always thought that you would have to spend lots of money and wait weeks to find out if you have a food intolerance.”
